Hawaii The 50th State

Hawaii: A State, Not a Country

Hawaii: The 50th State

Hawaii, a beautiful archipelago in the Pacific Ocean, is an integral part of the United States. As the 50th state to join the union on August 21, 1959, Hawaii's unique history and culture make it a beloved destination for tourists and residents alike.

Hawaii's Integration into the United States

Hawaii has been under U.S. sovereignty for over a century. It was originally a kingdom ruled by its own monarch. However, in 1898, Hawaii was annexed by the United States following the Spanish-American War.

Hawaii remained a territory of the United States until 1959 when it was granted statehood by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. This made Hawaii the 50th state of the union and the first to be located outside of the contiguous United States.
