Victory in Sunday's final against either Italy or Spain will see England become the first nation to win back-to-back European Championship titles since Spain in 2008 and 2012.
The Three Lions had to dig deep to overcome a stubborn Netherlands side. Cody Gakpo's superb volley deservedly cancelled out Luke Shaws early opener just after half-time.
But just when it looked like the match was destined to go the distance, Watkins, who came off the bench for the final 15 minutes, fired home a stunning winner in the 90th minute.
The Aston Villa forward, who was making his second England appearance in place of the suspended Phil Foden, received the ball on the edge of the area and expertly curled it beyond the reach of Netherlands goalkeeper Mark Flekken.
The goal sparked wild celebrations among the England players and fans alike. It was a moment of brilliance from Watkins, who has been in fine form for his club this season.
England will now face either Italy or Spain in the final on Sunday. It will be a tough test, but Gareth Southgate's side will be confident of making history.
