WNBA Tiebreaker Rules

Determining the Tiebreaker

In case of a tie between two or more teams, the following criteria will be used in the order given:

1. Head-to-Head Record

If the tied teams have played each other, the team with the better head-to-head record wins the tiebreaker.

2. Division Record

If the tied teams are in the same division, the team with the better division record wins the tiebreaker.

3. Conference Record

If the tied teams are in the same conference, the team with the better conference record wins the tiebreaker.

4. Overall Record

If the tied teams are not in the same conference, the team with the better overall record wins the tiebreaker.
